The GP 1999 Season. A good competitive GP-style set of the old school. Single tyre supplier helps level the field all the more.
Cars | McLewisLegendary British team back on form after a fantastic 1998 season. The McLewis should be the car to beat but reliability concerns shadow the teams progress.
| | Team WalesAfter coming so close to the title in the last 2 years Team Wales have concentrated on building a consistent and reliable car. Have they finally closed the gap to McLewis?
| | WallaceThe most successful independant team to date Wallace lost both titles in 1998. Can a return to Reno power in the form of Supertec help them back to former glory?
| | Jodran"This team come into the season off the back of a successful season, scoring their first win along the way. Testing has seen them get stronger over the winter and more wins are the target."
| | BeletonAfter several disappointing seasons former champions Beleton look to move back to the front of the grid. They have produced an aerodynamically competent car but does it have the raw speed?
| | BauberSmall swiss privateer team. A somewhat invisible team over recent years their impact has not been as big as their debut seasons. Can 1999 be their year?
| | DartAnother year and another prediction of a fightback by Dart. Progress has been made but crippling reliability issues remain.
| | STEWA"STEWA look to hit the big time with a ultra competetive car. A potential dark horse for podium visits, however the car's reliability has been an achilles heel throughout STEWA's GP tenure and this year looks to be no different."
| | posRTFrench team entering their 3rd year as the rebranded Ligier outfit. Has proven itself to score points and coupled with a fairly reliable machine - we could see them spring one or two surprises.
| | Rinaldi"The favourite minnows are once again along for the ride and while they aren't the quickest car on the grid, they are hopeful they can put one over their closest rivals with Italian spirit and creditable effort."
| | BartA new team taking over from where Tyrrell left off. Biggest budget out of all the teams but testing results show reliability to be the main issue.

Events CalendarMelbourneAustralia - March 7th
"The season opener at Australia is only the fourth Grand Prix to be held at Albert Park, Melbourne. But the track set out around a lake and 5.278km in length is enjoyed by most drivers. Not really regarded as demanding but bumpy in places under braking."
| InterlagosBrazil - April 11th
Interlagos is one of the bumpiest circuits in the calendar and one of the shortest races. The circuit is extremely hard on both man and machine with driver fatigue a major problem. The track is unusual because it is run in an anti-clockwise direction.
| ImolaSan Marino - May 2nd
At 4.929 Km Imola is average in length and in speed. Fuel consumption tends to be high and the addition of chicanes in 1995 has made this circuit hard on brakes and tyres. Attrition rates and possible wet conditions are both factors to look out for.
| MonacoMonte-Carlo - May 16th
Monaco is the shortest and slowest circuit on the calendar and claims to be the first ever motor-racing street circuit. There are no sand-traps around Monaco and the metal barriers can easily destroy suspension so concentration is required at all times.
| BarcelonaSpain - May 30th
"Catalunya is average in length and is one of the faster and also one of the best modern European circuits. It has one of the longest straights in Grand Prix Racing, several changes in elevation and a mixture of high, mid and low speed corners."
| MontrealCanada - June 13th
The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is average in length and speed with each lap involving sudden acceleration and deceleration which is hard on transmissions and brakes. One of the most unpredictable races of the season - it's all about reliability and luck.
| Magny CoursFrance - June 27th
"This is an unpopular Grand Prix with fans and teams in the middle of rural France. The circuit is flat and consists of short straights, long sweeping bends, chicanes and hairpins that make overtaking tough. Races tend to be processions unless it rains."
| SilverstoneEngland - July 11th
Half-way point of the season and we now move to the home of British motorsport. Based around an old airfield this circuit is a generally high-speed layout with a couple of tricky chicanes and complexes to catch you out. Normally a driver's favourite.
| A1-RingAustria - July 25th
The A-1 Ring is built on the site of the Osterreichring and follows the 1990's straight-slow corner-straight-slow corner-twisty infield formula. There are a couple of accident hotspots so speed and reliability is likely to determine the outcome here.
| HockenheimGermany - August 1st
At 6.822 Km Hockenheim is the second longest and the second fastest Grand Prix circuit which was incidentally built as a test track for Mercedes-Benz. The Formula One fans who attend Hockenheim provide the most enthusiastic and vocal crowd outside Italy.
| HungaroringHungary - August 15th
The Hungaroring in the town of Mogyorod. At 3.968 Km the Hungaroring is the second shortest and the second slowest Grand Prix circuit. In some ways the Hungaroring is a bit like Monaco without the yachts and the barriers.
| Spa-FrancorchampsBelgium - August 29th
At 6.968 Km Spa-Francorchamps is the longest active Grand Prix circuit. The weather always makes this race one of the most exciting.
| MonzaItaly - September 12th
At 5.8 Km the Autodromo Nationale di Monza is the third longest active Grand Prix circuit and it is the fastest. Long straights and heavy braking accompanied by the tifosi make it an exciting circuit.
| NurburgringEuropean GP - September 26th
The Nurburgring is average in length and speed. Many will say the current layout is disappointing compared to the Nordschleife but it always throws up a fascinating race.
| SepangMalaysia - October 17th
"New this season, at 5.542 km the Sepang circuit is the fourth longest circuit to be used in the 1999 Formula One season. The circuit looks like a longer, improved version of Magny-Cours in France."
| SuzukaJapan - October 31st
"The grand prix season ends in Suzuka, Japan. A difficult circuit to navigate, numerous elavation changes and tight corners await the drivers."
