The GP 2010 Season, featuring the most anticipated season for a decade or more. New teams, new rules, more cars on track, no refuelling.

Cars

McLewis

"Following a difficult 2009 campaign, McLewis have staged an early coup by signing the incumbent World Champion for the 2010 season. Their title challenger has been hailed as one of the most radical designs in the sport, but an informal split from engine s"

Mernandez

"Having purchased 2009 constructors champions Brown Grand Prix after the final race 2009, Mernandez are looking to strike out on their own as full works team at a time when the sport is in serious need for manufacturers. Their secret weapon is the signing "

Red Bell

"2009 saw Red Bell finally break their duck with wins in China, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. Their car was considered to be the best of the 2009 grid, with pundits pointing to it as the source of 2010 inspiration. Will this season s"

Team Wales

"After a disastrous 2009 season - their worst in nearly twenty years - Team Wales are back and looking to settle a score. They have new drivers, new sponsors and a new car, but they have already been criticised as being too conservative in their design app"

Wallace

"Wallace has spent the past few seasons fluctuating between the upper and lower midfield. With both their 2009 drivers departing, the team has invested itself in one of the sport's brightest new stars, his untapped potential supplemented by the boundless e"

Reno

"After being caught in the vice-like grip of controversy and humiliation in 2009, Reno has ushered in a discreet regime change. With the unique distinction of running two East European drivers, Reno are looking to recover from the hangover of last season a"

Fierce Indians

"After netting their first pole position, podium and points in 2009, the Indians are back and fiercer than ever before. Rather than risk the unknown, the team is banking on an unchanged driver line-up to drive them out of the midfield and take the fight to"

Roro Torso

"2010 is an important year for Roro Torso because it marks the first time they have designed and built their own chassis. However, having struggled with the far-superior Red Bell chassis in 2009, little is expected of them and an inexperienced driver roste"

Sotul

"The demise of Bavarian Bauber saw the revival of one of the sport's most famous names, Sotul. The team have netted a solid if unspectacular pair of drivers, and despite their short start-up period, they have already established themselves as a serious and"

Iberia Racing Team

"Saved from being the first casualty of 2010 after months of speculation, Iberia have a driver lineup with no experience and a chassis without so much as a shakedown. Little is expected of Spain's first team."

Bauber

"Saving his team from a future of being mentioned only in the history books, Bauber have pulled out all the stops to make it to the first race of the season. In keeping with their reputation as a finder of new talent, the team has snared one of Grand Prix "

Maiden

"With the weight of one of the worlds best-known companies bankrolling them, Maiden are taking an unorthodox approach to racing. Their two drivers have never truly been given a chance to shine, while their car is designed without the use of a wind tunnel a"

  • Events Calendar

    Bahrain

    Bahrain - 14th March

"The first race of the season takes the cars to Bahrain, where a new layout has been approved for 2010. Adding almost a kilometre to the circuit in the shape of a very technical section, it will have a major effect on car setup."

    Melbourne

    Australia - 28th March

"The traditional season-opening race has been moved to the second round for 2010. Drivers like the Albert Park circuit with its evenly-spaced and predictable corners, but the event often produces a race of attrition and 2010 will be no exception."

    Sepang

    Malaysia - 4th April

"Sweeping corners, tight bends and an atmosphere heavy with humidity makes this one of the most difficult races of the season for a driver. Malaysia is still in the grip of the rainy season, meaning heavy downpours can come without warning. Beware."

    Shanghai

    China - 18th April

Switching to an earlier place in the calendar; the Shanghai circuit is much like Sepang - long corners coupled with fast straights. A race in April could see an increased chance in wet weather which means teams will have to keep their wits about them.

    Barcelona

    Spain - 9th May

"The Spanish GP enjoyed a revitalisation with packed grandstands in previous years. The circuit is a major test venue throughout the season for all GP teams. As a result the racing can appear to be processional, though it does statistically have the repu"

    Monaco

    Monte-Carlo - 16th May

Surely the most famous and glamorous GP circuits is the toughest of them all - with a beautiful harbour and many bars to visit. The narrow streets are real nightmare in a GP car and the race duration requires huge levels of stamina. Driver errors result

    Istanbul

    Turkey - 30th May

"The first race at this venue proved popular in 2005, when the tricky turn 8 made the race very exciting. Overtaking is possible here if you can pressure other drivers into a mistake."

    Montreal

    Canada - 13th June

The Canadians still love their GP - though in the past their support for local heroes has rarely been rewarded. A temporary street circuit results in high speeds and heavy breaking. Rain is not uncommon.

    Valencia

    Spain - 27th June

After making its debut on the GP calendar in 2008; the Valencia Street Circuit is rather a unique layout despite providing somewhat unexciting racing. The wide birth of the course makes it feel more like Montreal than Monaco.

    Silverstone

    England - 11th July

"Saving the British Grand Prix with a last-minute mercy mission, Silverstone now comes armed with a new layout that eliminates the single-file final sector in favour of a more open design that has been adapted from the brand-new motorcycle circuit."

    Hockenheim

    Germany - 25th July

"A circuit that many fans consider to be a castrated parody of its original form, the Hockenheimring is virtually guaranteed to produce a sell-out crowd with a strong German showing."

    Hungaroring

    Hungary - 1st August

A natural bowl is the home for Hungary's race. Described as Monaco without the barriers for many years - recent changes have made it easier to overtake and a more interesting venue. It still requires high stamina.

    Spa-Francorchamps

    Belgium - 29th August

"Considered by most drivers to be one of the most challenging circuits, the elevation changes, high speed corners - especially Eau Rouge make this race one to look forward to. The weather is highly changeable and can put a spanner in the works of a well t"

    Monza

    Italy - 12th September

"With 73% of the lap at full throttle, Monza boasts the claim of being the fastest circuit on the calendar and having the most dedicated fan base. High speeds usually mean it is the shortest race of the season, meaning time is of the essence."

    Singapore

    Singapore - 26th September

"After the excitement of 2008, the 2009 race betrayed Marina Bay's stop-start nature. Changes are being considered for 2011 to make the circuit faster, but for now the drivers will have to contend with a circuit that is excruciating on the brakes."

    Suzuka

    Japan - 10th October

The legendary Suzuka circuit has been the scene of many classic GP races. Its figure of 8 layout makes it unique - the track itself tests the driver with very fast corners such as 130R.

    Korea

    "Yeongam, Korea" - 24th October

"Half-street circuit, half-purpose built raceway, all new. South Korea joins the 2010 calendar for the first time, but the circuit's location on the Yellow Sea coast leaves it open and exposed to vicious storms from China and the Sea of Japan."

    Interlagos

    Brazil - 7th November

Located in the city of Sau Paulo the Interlagos circuit has a rare anti-clockwise configuration. The track is very bumpy and requires a soft set up; engine power is also important with cars having to climb a hill up towards the start finish line.

    Abu Dhabi

United Arab Emirates - 14th November

"With day turning to night, the last few laps of 2009 were some of the hardest-fought of the season. Can the circuit produce the same for 2010 and cement its claim as a modern masterpiece, or is it a one-hit wonder?"

    GP 2010 Racing Strategy Game

This series is a model of the exciting new GP 2010 season.

    Points

Points now reward the race winner more significantly. In addition there are now points down to P10.

    1st - 25
    2nd - 18
    3rd - 15
    4th - 12
    5th - 10
    6th - 8
    7th - 6
    8th - 4
    9th - 2
    10th - 1

    No Refuelling

No refuelling takes place, but a minimum of 1 pitstop must still be made. This is a big shake up to our traditional GP sets and will require the player to significantly change the way they approach the race.

There is now also a chance of running out of fuel in the dying moments of the race.

    Qualifying

The top 10 no longer carry their race fuel for the final qualifying session.

Those that qualify in the top 10 will have to use those exact same tyres in the race. Do not change the tyre or you will be penalised. You may change it if the weather changes or is wet. If you were familiar with the old GP 05 set then this is the exact same set of circumstances, with the exception that it only applies to the top 10.

Up to 7 cars now drop out of qualifying in the first knockout phase, and 7 in the second knockout phase, leaving 10 cars for the final session.

The incidence of "excellent" and "incredible" laps has been increased a little.

    Tyres

Players can choose any compound combination they like for the race, to provide additional strategy options - you are not forced to run one of each compound if you do not want to!

    Warmup Laps

As before there is only 1 warmup lap, representing your drive to the grid for greater realism. We have also increased the opening practice laps. However, overall the number of laps overall is slightly reduced, a reflection in the limited amount of testing defined by regulations.

    KERS

No cars run KERS, so this is no longer an option open to you.

    Track Changes

Bahrain has a refined layout and requires a new setup, as does Silverstone to a lesser degree. Korea is an all-new circuit.

    Overall Changes

As a result of changes set by the regulatory body, this set features more difficult overtaking at present compared to the old GP 2009 set.

We have added larger 300-pixel car images into the game for this carset. This set also sees a new safety car.

    Upgrades

As before, the GP 2009 carset features chassis upgrades since engines have been "locked" by the regulatory body and there is only one tyre supplier.

    Disclaimer

Though this carset is inspired by high level single seater racing, no actual real life teams, cars or intellectual property is included.
