Cars

BMW Team Schnitzer

Considered one of the best Touring Car teams in the world with a string of titles in Touring Cars and Sports cars dating back to the 70's. Whilst they may of been beaten to the World title in recent years, the German squad are always front runners and title contenders.

BMW Team ROAL

Co-owned by Touring Car legend Roberto Ravaglia, formed in 2001 the team may of not had the same level of success as its BMW stable mates, but are always in contention for podiums and race wins.

BMW Team RBM

RBM, based in Mechelen, Belgium, made its debut in 2002. One of the smallest of the BMW works team, yet one of the most successful. Always a contender for poles, race wins and most importantly championship titles.

Seat Sport ORECA

The French squad have had numerous success having won over 360 times in many different motor sport categories and are 1 of the most titled racing teams worldwide. Drafted in to help the factory Seat team run 2 of its cars, the Diesel power has given the Seats a massive boost and the ORECA team have become front running title contenders.

Seat Sport

The factory Seat team, established in 2003 to run the Toledo model. A switch to the new Leon during 2005 saw them become much more competitive every race weekend. Then they controversially brought diesel power to the touring car world and became the Manufacturer to beat.

Seat Sport UK

Seat UK's official team joined the BTCC in '04 with instant race winning success followed by team and manufacturer titles in later years. Switched to the Diesel power along with the WTCC Seat team and although the Diesel proved to be a race winner it did give the team some problems.

RML - Chevrolet Europe

Present since 2005 and run by renowned motorsport team Ray Mallock Ltd. The American marque may not have had championship winning success but have been no stranger to the top step of the podium.

N.Technology Team Honda

The team have had previous success with Alfa Romeo in Touring cars but a late deal to run the Accords and limited backing from Honda may see the team struggle early on, but despite this and a switch to Mugen built engines, wins and podiums can be achieved.

Volvo Green Racing

In recent years Volvo's main focus has been closer to home in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. Built and run by Polestar Racing the C30 model took over from the larger S60 in 2008 and although still in early development has shown promise. One of the first Manufacturer teams to run with Bio-Fuel.

VX Racing

One of the teams to beat in recent times in the BTCC. Run by TripleEight Race engineering the Vectra instantly continued the success of the multi-title winning Astra. Will be strong opposition for the established World series teams.

Russian Bears Motorsport - Lada

An abortive effort by Lada to run the 110 model led to the Russian Bears team eventually taking on an Independant effort with the model. Some respectable results after a shaky start has encouraged Lada to back the teams efforts and bring with it the latest Priora model and new engine.

Audi Sport

Whilst Audi can't rely on the Quattro system that brought championship titles in the '90's, on their return they will make use of the Diesel technology they pioneered in Sportscar racing which led to the winning Diesel power that other VW group marques have used to their advantage.

Peugeot Sport

Peugeot have tried to crack the world championship in recent years with the 307 and the 407 but with little success. Now using the technology they developed with the HDi Diesel for their Le Mans prototype program they are confident they will have the pace to win in touring cars.

Ford Team Focus

The Focus has given Ford success in rallying for most of its life. Past efforts with the Focus in Touring cars have not been so fruitful, but a full works backed effort has brought more optimism to the blue ovals latest attempt. No doubt it will be a fan favourite when it hits the track.

Opel Motorsport

Opel's official return to Touring Cars starts with the advantage of using the same title winning Vectra that has been succesfully developed by sister brand Vauxhall in the BTCC. Operations are overseen direct from Opel's Motorsport division at OPC.

AMG Mercedes

Whilst Mercedes in touring cars are more associated with DTM, there have been S2000 versions for independant use in the STCC and Danish Touring car series. AMG will run an official works team for the first time with their experience and backing they will be a strong force.

VW Racing

Volkswagen as a group have a rich motorsport heritage, but VW as a brand have not made an impact on the touring car scene until now. Their first WTCC project is the Passat, similar to the Audi A4 and with the same diesel technology. Reliability should be a strong point.

Škoda Motorsport

Having tried their hand at the rally scene the Czech mark move to the WTCC and will use its VW Group link for its Diesel engine and the fact the Octavia uses the same platform as the Seat Leon. Could be a surprise package.

Alfa Romeo Racing Team

The Italian marque won championship titles with the 156 before taking a sabbatical from the series. Alfa now return with the newer 159 model and it would hard to imagine they won't continue that success.

Team Cadillac

Part of Cadillac's program to promote its BLS model to Europe and other parts of the world includes the American marques first attempt on the International Touring car scene. An experienced team behind the campaign, but will an all new car prove a problem?

Renault Sport

An offshoot of the Formula 1 squad will be overseeing operations and will no doubt produce a great handling chassis. Renualt produced one of the best cars during the mid-nineties and will hoping to repeat that with the latest Laguna model.

Chrysler Motorsports

The Chrysler group briefly flirted with the 2.0 litre touring car scene in the North America Touring car championship in the '90's with the Dodge brand. The Sebring will make use of its VW sourced diesel engine.

Saab Dealer Sport

One of the few Works teams to run Bio-ethanol. The Scandinavian firms history in motorsport is more in rallying pre-1980, but the Swedish Saab dealer team have expericence in the STCC to fall back on.

Prodrive Team Subaru

Prodrive have experience in Touring cars, F1 and GT racing but their partnership with Subaru in the World Rally Championship is their most well known and now that partnership comes to the WTCC. With the experience the team has of the chassis the Subaru is expected to be a contender.

MAZDASPEED

The American arm of the motorsport division of Mazda will run the Japanese makes entry to the WTCC. Mazda have been running in the Speed World Challenge Touring Car series in America with some triumphs and will be hoping the transition to the 2.0L formula will be a successful one.

Ralliart Inc.

Mitsubishi began in motorsport in Touring cars back in the 60's and will return to the track with its successful Lancer model. The Ralliart team will be hoping to build on its rich history its achieved in the Rally world.

Toyota Motorsport GmbH

The Brand new Avensis model will form the basis of Toyota's attack on the World stage of Touring cars. Headed by its motorsport division that has had its share of victories in Le Mans and Rallying and now oversee the F1 team.

Lancia Sport

Another Make known more for its rally exploits. Lancia have been out of the limelight internationally since then, but the Italian team will be hoping that the front wheel drive car will be quick out the box.

Hyundai Motorsport

The Korean manufacturers first attempt at Touring cars in the world series. The Sonata has proven to be a bit of a handful so far pre-season but is still early in development. The engine may be its strong point.

Citroën Sport

The French manufacturer will use the knowledge its gained from it rally experience, but will use the Sedan version more commonly known in South America and Chinese markets for its touring car effort and call on the HDi Diesel unit pioneered by sister company Peugeot.

NISMO

From Le Mans to Daytona and the Super GT series as well as single seaters and the Japanese Touring Car Championship, NISMO have a wealth of experience managing Nissan's motorsport activities. The Sentra may be smaller than some of its rivals but has proved to be a nimble car.

MG Sport UK

After being rescued by the Chinese, the MG name returns to Motorsport. The new ZS is based on a concept from the MG-Rover group that was then put into production by the renamed Roewe marque. The MG version will rely on an update of the same engine the make ran under BTC spec rules in the BTCC.

Holden Racing Team

Holden Special Vehicles will go international as they bring the Astra to the WTCC. A completely new chassis, built by the Performance arm of the Holden motor company in Australia, will use the BTCC Vauxhall developed petrol engine.

Alfa Romeo 156

The 156 was the basis for Alfa success for the last ten years with a host of Italian and European titles. Although ageing now against newer opposition the 156 is still a dependable machine for results.

Alfa Romeo 159

The newer 159 model is well built by the Italian manufacturer, who would of learnt a lot from their title winning days with the 156. A newer upgraded engine will also keep the Alfa on the pace.

Audi A4

Built by Audi back in Germany. A strong Diesel engine developed from the marques Le Mans program. Coupled with a great chassis, the Audi will be a strong performer for a top Independent team.

BMW 120d

Originally built by BMW for the endurance racing scene, the 120 has been converted to S2000 rules by an Independent team. Unusual for a BMW is that it runs on Diesel and is the only rear-wheel drive diesel on the grid.

BMW 320si

For an Independent team that wants to be in with a shout at winning from the start then you can't go wrong with a 3-series BMW. A proven race winning chassis and engine come complete with a customer service like no other manufacturer offers.

Cadillac BLS

A new manufacturer to touring cars, with the car in early development, it may be a risk to choose for a privateer team but could bring some surprise results.

Chevrolet Lacetti

The Chevrolet has proven to be a hit with teams looking for an alternative to the Seat/Alfa/BMW choice for Independant teams. Builders RML have turned out a good handling car and a decent engine.

Chrysler Sebring

An alternative to the normal proven touring car. The Sebring uses a proven Diesel from its range that just happens to be sourced from the VW Group with its race winning technology.

Citroën C4 Sedan

Built with the knowledge gained from the rally world and the HDi engine developed from endurance racing. This sedan version of the C4 should prove to be a good choice for its owners.

Ford Focus

The latest Focus is a much improved performer than more recent examples. Chosen by some team managers as the best choice of chassis to build into a winning Touring car.

Holden Astra

The Astra chassis is entirely developed by Holden's performance arm HSV and independent of sister company Vauxhalls efforts in the BTCC. However they do share the same Petrol engine as the Vectra. Could be a good option with a nimble chassis and successful engine.

Honda Civic

The futuristic design of the latest Civic has had its share of the champagne in the BTCC, built by the championship winning Team Dynamics in the UK with the help of Honda. A well balanced chassis and good performance from the engine equals a good choice for an Independent.

Honda Accord

Italian team Jas Motorsport has built the larger Honda Accord for the last few years. Customers taking part in Sweden, Denmark and the World series have been able to achieve good results with race wins always a potential. With the added extra that Honda engine specialists Mugen have now taken on the engine project.

Hyundai Sonata

Direct from Korea, the Sonata won't be the first choice for some, but that could be an advantage for those who do! Impressive results from under the hood are the cars strong point.

Lada Priora

The latest Lada model has been built with the experience gained from their first attempt with the 110. French engine builders SNBE will make sure the new 2.0L units will give the extra power needed.

Lada 110

The original model that Lada first attempted to enter the WTCC with. The Russian Bears team then used them for a year. Despite an out of date engine, the car achieved some decent podium results.

Lancia Delta

The new Delta may be a bit of unknown, but its built by an experienced team of engineers with plenty of testing time. Offers the chance of racing with an iconic motorsport name.

Lexus IS200

The Lexus had the potential to be a top touring car, but although that potential was never realised in its days in the BTCC its rear wheel drive layout will help give an advantage that normally BMW or Mercedes only enjoy. However showing signs of its age.

Mazda 6

Mazda North America backed project to build a race winning Touring car has started in the SPEED Touring car Challenge. Although to a slighty different formula, they have been able to produce a good car to take on the World series.

Mercedes C200

For Independent teams with a fair budget they can't do much wrong than an AMG built Mercedes. A solid chassis and an engine with some grunt. Rear wheel drive will also be a benefit.

MG ZS

The new MG ZS comes from sister company Roewe and a concept from the MG-Rover group days. A more modern chassis than the old ZS and although the engine is based on the same one that was used in the BTCC a few years ago it has been updated.

Mitsubishi Lancer

It might not be the Iconic Evo, but the S2000 version of Mitsubishi's popular saloon has as much technology and speed that the rules allow. To distinguish itself further from the Evo, the Lancer is powered by a diesel sourced from the VW group.

Nissan Sentra

One of the smaller cars on the grid, but has proven to have large potential. The Sentra is a popular choice for Independent teams in the Americas and in Asia. NISMO designed and built will give it a good head start.

Opel Vectra

The successful Vectra as raced in the BTCC. Badged either as the Opel or the Vauxhall. An easy car to get on with and a good performing engine. One for a team with serious aspirations.

Peugeot 407

The 407 looks the part but never quite made it when it had the backing of Peugeot. Since then the 407's have been a popular choice for Independent teams in the Swedish and Danish series.

Renault Laguna

The Laguna has been designed and built by an offshoot of the Renault F1 team. So a great handling car with front wheel drive petrol power.

Saab 9-3

The Swedish Dealer Sport team has built the 9-3 with help from Saab. Using a GM sourced engine that runs on Bio-Ethanol. Extra horsepower may come at a cost of reliability.

Seat Leon

The introduction of the Leon transformed Seats fortunes and finally gave BMW some serious competition. The customer version may only have the petrol engine but it has still been proven to win at the highest level.

Seat Toledo

Seat's first model into the world of touring cars. Whilst it was able to compete for wins and podiums, titles were just out of reach. For an Independent team the well developed car would prove a good basis to start a touring car campaign.

Skoda Octavia

Belonging to same motoring group as Seat will always give a manufacturer a headstart. Using diesel power, front wheel drive and the same platform as the Leon.

Subaru Impreza

In the rally world Subaru have a strong relationship with customers who have brought their rally cars, that relationship has been promised to transfer to customers of its touring car. So you can expect a chassis designed and built by top team Prodrive and great performing Diesel engine.

Toyota Avensis

Built by the same team that runs the Toyota F1 program. A brand new car may show signs of teething trouble, but comes from a manufacturer with a great reliability history.

Vauxhall Vectra

The successful Vectra as raced in the BTCC. Badged either as the Opel or the Vauxhall. An easy car to get on with and a good performing engine. One for a team with serious aspirations.

Volvo C30

Volvo's latest effort for the touring car world. The C30 has been developed to run on E85 bio-ethanol which should give it a small hp advantage over the normal petrol cars. Together with a neat chassis it should prove to be a competitive choice.

Volvo S60

One of the original S2000 cars, but has been used, developed and redesigned by the Volvo backed Polestar team right up until a few years ago. Runs on the bio-ethanol fuel and could be a contender in the right hands.

Volkswagen Passat

Tried and tested Diesel and a well built new chassis. The Passat has all the makings of a race winning car.

Oschersleben Race 2

Oschersleben, GermanyRace 2. The fairly flat track with some quick corners creates a smooth fast circuit, but one that needs constant concentration. The chicane is noted by most drivers as comparatively quick, just don't hit the kerbs too hard. 6th September

Imola Race 1

Imola, ItalyThe famous Autodromo Enzo e Dino Team Wales, Imola hosts the 12th stop on the WTCC tour. For safety reasons the circuit layout has gone under many changes, the basic anti-clockwise shape still remains. For many though its fast flowing nature has been lost. 20th September

Okayama Race 2

Mimasaka, JapanRace 2. The circuit hosted Formula 1 back in the nineties on two occasions and has a bit of everything, with two relatively long straights making up over one third of the length of the track a few fast sweepers, a tight hairpin and a technical 'infield'. 1st November

Macau Race 1

Macau, ChinaThe now traditional end of season jaunt around the streets Macau is also one of the ultimate tests for any driver racing there. Tight and twisty with one of the tightest hairpins in modern racing and a 'straight' thats over a mile long. 22nd November

S2000 Touring Cars (WTCC) Racing Strategy Game

This carset contains all of the most popular car makers in the world, with their models all being built to the current Super 2000 Touring Car regulations. The calendar is based off the WTCC, but with the addition of races in America, Australia and Sweden.

The carset features two championships, an overall title and an Independent title, with the top works teams taking advantage of investment from the road car makers, and the smaller independent teams who have to rely on sponsors to even make the grid. Both classes qualify and race as one. A slower works car will qualify behind a faster independants car. All cars are eligable for the overall title, which is based off the points given to the top eight finishers in each race, regardless of class. The independants trophy is based off points awarded to the first eight independants each race. Therefore, works teams cars can only go for the overall title, but independants cars can go for both, but this is a difficult feat, for they are disadvantaged in the machinery and resoruces they have.

To race in the works class, you must have won a touring car championship previously, or the independants class. This ensures that the members of the top class really are the top drivers. When you start out, unless you are eligable for the works class, you are restricted to the older cars available for the independants. Later on, once you have completed two seasons in the championship, you can move on to the other cars, reflecting real life, where a team starts at the bottom before moving up to the better cars.

The race format is similar to the WTCC, with two races at each venue. The grid for the first race, which has a rolling start, is set by the qualifying results. Qualifying has two parts. The first part is 20 minutes long (30 on a street circuit), and you can make two qualifying attempts. The fastest ten go through to the second part, which is 10 minutes long (15 on the street circuits). You can only make one run in the second session. The front five rows are set by the times from the second session, behind that the grid is set with the times from the first session. The grid for the second race, with a standing start, is set by a reverse grid. The number of cars that will be reversed each time is randomised, like in the BTCC. Between 6 and 14 cars will be reversed each time.

Both races advance at the same time, with similar weather between the two. Because the races are at the same time, damage will be carried from one onto the next race. You have two choices as to how much you want to repair your car if it's 69% or worse health. A minor repair will increase your health by 30%, and will automatically take place if your car is 70% or better. A full repair will get your car to full health no matter how bad it was to start, but with the penalty of having to start from the back of the grid, because the repair would take longer than you're allowed and/or involve changing sealed parts like engines, and therefore you would break the Parc Ferme rules.

The amount of tyre wear you experience depends on the configuration of the car you have. Front wheel drive cars wear their tyres more, and also diesels wear their tyres more than petrols.

Updates

Works teams can get engine updates, however, the independants teams cannot get any updates.
