Cars1969 Dodge Challenger | Dodge was the last one to the pony car party, but it spent its time wisely, perfecting its entry, the Challenger. The Challenger debuted with an engine lineup that ranged from a docile slant six to the powerful 440 Six Barrel and the awesome 426 Hemi. Other pony cars could only dream of a line up like that. | 1969 Pontiac GTO | The big news for 1969 was the introduction of a new option for the GTO. Rumored to be a sleeper budget model to combat the Plymouth Road Runner, it actually was the opposite. New the GTO was a Ram IV 400 cid V8 seriously underrated at 370bhp, as well as restyled taillights, and deletion of the vent windows. | 1970 Ford Torino | 1970 was a very successful year for Torino. It was a well received car by the automotive press and was selected as the Motor Trend Car of the Year for 1970. Motor Trend said the Torino was "Not really a car line in the old sense, but a system of specialty cars, each for a different use ... from luxury to performance." | 1969 Mustang Boss 302 | Both the Boss 302 and 429 continued into 1970. The 428 Cobra Jet continued as the top engine choice for the Mach 1 Mustang. New for 1970 was the 429 Cobra Jet, standard in the Boss 429. The 429 Cobra Jet was rated at 370 bhp while the Super Cobra Jet was rated for 375 bhp. This would be the last year for the Shelby Cobras, which were in fact left over 1969 models with some minor trim changes. | 1970 Plymouth Baracuda | The Plymouth Barracuda was the first pony car, debuting two weeks before the Ford Mustang. It was quickly eclipsed by the Mustang and the Camaro/Firebird due, but would make a name for itself in 1970 when it was available with an engine its competition could only dream of, the Hemi. | 1970 AMC Javelin | The new Javelins competed successfully in Trans-Am racing in a Penske Racing/Mark Donohue team, as well as with a Roy Woods ARA team sponsored by American Motors Dealers[1]. The Javelin won the Trans-Am title in 1971, 1972, and 1973. A number of famous drivers piloted the racecars including George Follmer and Mark Donohue, whose name became associated with a special a rear spoiler of his design. | 1967 Camaro | After two years of watching the Ford Mustang enjoy tremendous success, General Motors finally launched its entry into the pony car segment, the Chevrolet Camaro. Although available with a mediocre six cylinder for volume sales, the Camaro could be equipped with several V8s and a myriad of performance options. Then, of course, was the famous Regular Production Code, Z/28, that would change the industry's view of pony cars. | 1966 Mustang GT350R | 1966 saw further refinement of the Mustang. The gauge cluster was redone to seperate the Mustang from its Falcon roots while the 260 cid V8 was replaced with 2 and 4 barrel versions of the 289 cid V8. The Shelby GT-350 was still available, though its race image was being dilluted by the addition of an automatic transmission. Available on the GT-350 through 1968 was a Paxton supercharger which would boost horsepower by as much as 40%. | 1970 Mercury Cougar | The Mercury Cougar was introduced in 1967 as the more upscale version of the Ford Mustang. It had more mature styling and upscale interior appointments and rode on a three inch longer wheelbase than the Mustang. Yet despite its greater emphasis on luxury than performance, the Mercury Cougar still managed to make its mark on the American street scene. | 1970 Pontiac Trans-Am | The Pontiac Trans Am was an automobile produced by General Motors (GM), to appeal to the growing muscle car population. The second generation was available from 1970 to 1981 and was featured in the 1977 movie Smokey and the Bandit. It is essentialy a rebodied GTO with the same engine and drivetrain |
EnginesPontiac V8 Ram Air IV | In 1969 Pontiac created several versions of their "tunnel port" engine: a special short-deck version of the V8 for Trans Am racing and a 400 standard deck version. The Ram Air IV produced a healthy 370 bhp | AMC 390ci V8 | The AMC 390 CI 390 produced 325 hp in all except the Rebel Machine. This muscle car engine was rated at 340 hp (254 kW) due to a different intake. Production only lasted one year (1970) before it was stroked to become the 401 | Ford Boss 302 | Though rated by Ford at just 290 hp, the real output of the legendary Boss 302 was thought to be considerably higher by racers and other performance enthusiasts in the know. Equipped with the free-flowing Cleveland-style cylinder heads, the Boss 302 was the small-bock Mustang to own and continues to be sought after by true Blue Oval enthusiasts. | Chrysler 426 Hemi | Arguably the most evocative engine of the muscle car era, the Hemi was rated at 425 hp (317 kW) with two Carter AFB carburetors though in actual dyno testing, it made 315 rear-wheel HP stock | Chevrolet 396ci V-8 | The 396 ci V8 was introduced in the 1965 Corvette as the L78 option and in the Z16 Chevelle as well as the Camaro. It has a bore of 4.094 in and stroke of 3.76 in , and produced 375 bhp(317 kW) and 415 ft·lbf | Ford 289ci V8 supercharged | Sporting a 90º 289ci V8 this Holley 715 CFM Carburetor fed Ford could propel the GT350R from 0 - 60 in 6.5 s and up to 149 mph. A real giant killer in '66 |

Classic Trans-Am Racing Strategy GameThe carset is based off historic Trans Am, from the golden years of the series. The calendar is based off the 1972 season, but there are many different cars from the era. The series was seen as one of the great road course racing series in North America, and was popular due to its highly skilled drivers and popular car makes involved.
The series has a large grid of 32 cars, and is very competitive. The races are long, and feature no yellow flag periods. All races feature refueling, and you will have to make a choice of how many pitstops to make. The tyres are fairly durable, but will still wear enough to effect lap times on a long stint.
There are no tyre upgrades as there is only one type of tyre. However, there are a few engine upgrades, about two every series, making getting one a special and unusual occurance.
Points System
First - 20pts Second - 15 pts Third - 12 pts Fourth - 10 pts Fifth - 8pts Sixth - 6pts Seventh - 4pts Eighth - 3pts Ninth - 2pts Tenth - 1pt
