CarsMisubisi RallyMart | Having won last season's constructors' championship and the last three drivers' world championships, Misubisi enters the season as one of the favourites. | Toyoma Catsroll Team | Toyoma lost the constructors' title to Misubisi by a mere six points last season and they are determined to take the first spot in 1999. They can be expected to be competitive enough to reach this goal. | Saubaru Rallye Team | This iconic team with its iconic car enters the 1999 season with a car painted in traditional, distinctive blue-yellow color scheme. But they are not all looks - they also have what it takes to fight for the victories. | Ffordd Sardine | Ffordd goes into the new season with an all-new model, Sardine. It is expected to be competitive right from the start but reliability may be an issue. | Pogo Basso | Pogo's return to rallying will undoubtedly make the fans happy. The car has one of the most powerful engines under the bonnet and may be surprisingly competitive; however, there's a chance that reliability is not up to par. | SEAN Motorsport | This is the first full season for the Spanish squad and they are expected to struggle. However, their car may prove competitive enough to score some points on a regular basis. | Soda Rallysport | Soda is a new team which will have the fans' sympathies on its side but unfortunately their car is not up to par with others. Not much is expected from the Czech squad during their first season. | Ffordd Sector (private team) | A competitive car in the 1998 season. In the hands of a capable driver it can still make an impact. | Saubaru Empress '98 (private team) | A car that scored several victories in 1998 and it may still be capable to score good results in 1999. |

Events CalendarMonte Carlo Rally | Monaco | The season starts with the most legendary rally of them all - Monte Carlo - where competitors will face dangerous mountain roads and tricky driving conditions. Only the best will succeed here. | | 17th - 20th JanuaryRally Sweden | Värmland, Sweden | The only snow rally in the calendar, Sweden is a truly unique round. By leaning the rear of the car to the snow banks, one can enter bends at very high speeds. However, one mistake while doing this and you will end up digging your car out of the snow. | | 12th - 14th FebruarySafari Rally | Kenya | Feared by teams and drivers, loved by the fans - Safari Rally puts both man and machine to the test. If you can overcome dust and mud, dodge the wildlife and stay focused through the extremely long stages, you just might have a chance to win. | | 25th - 28th FebruaryRally Portugal | Portugal | It's a picturesque place - shame you won't be able to enjoy the scenery as you blaze through the terrain in your rally missile while the wildest crowd of fans in the world cheers you on! Or tries to hinder your progress in case they don't like you... | | 21st - 24th MarchRally Catalunya | Catalunya, Spain | One of the few asphalt events of the season. Cutting corners will spread lots of dirt on the road, making the bends very slippery. This may be a problem unless you are among the first ones to start the stage. | | 19th - 21st AprilTour de Corse | Corsica, France | Corsica has been nicknamed the 'Rally of the 10,000 Corners'; this is no accident as the bumpy tarmac roads running along the mountainsides are extremely twisty - and dangerous. One mistake and you may find yourself at the bottom of a gorge. | | 7th-9th MayRally Argentina | Cordoba, Argentina | The terrain of Rally Argentina varies from smooth to rough but one thing common to all the stages is their high altitude, causing thin air to drain power from the engines. Numerous watersplashes on the route may also be a problem for the machinery. | | 22nd - 25th MayAcropolis Rally | Acropolis, Greece | Acropolis is a rough rally which will be difficult for the drivers but even worse for the cars which will have to endure the uneven, bumpy roads. The first and foremost concern here is how to get your vehicle to the finish in relatively one piece. | | 6th - 9th JuneRally New Zealand | Auckland, New Zealand | A drivers' favourite. Fast stages flowing through the greenery with changing camber and a relatively small chance for error provide a great driving experience and nail-bitingly close fights for the victory. | | 15th - 18th JulyRally Finland | Jyväskylä, Finland | Forget about driving and learn how to fly - Rally Finland is all about insane speeds and yumping high. Floor the throttle and prepare for the ride of your life through some of the fastest and most demanding stages in the world. | | 20th - 22nd AugustChina Rally | Guangdong, China | A newcomer in the calendar. The rally route consists of a mixture of slow and fast gravel stages with weather conditions that are expected to change often. | | 17th - 19th SeptemberRallye Sanremo | Sanremo, Italy | Located close to the French Alps, the roads of San Remo resemble those of Monte Carlo without any snow or ice. The rally takes place in autumn which means that fallen leaves, combined with the humidity of morning stages, make the stages slippery and hard. | | 11th - 13th OctoberRally Australia | Perth, Australia | The stages in Rally Australia are covered with bauxite pebbles which makes them very slippery, particularly for the first runners. The roads are also often very narrow with trees right on the edge of the road, adding to the already high difficulty. | | 4th - 7th NovemberRally GB | Wales, United Kingdom | The season comes to a close with a truly classic event, infamous for its muddy forest roads, fog and seemingly perpetual rain. Overcoming these conditions will require every bit of driving skill that one has. | | 21st - 23rd November | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
