Save Race Replays & More

Saving Race Replays

- NEW URL http://stormrace.net/exporter

This question seems to be asked quite frequently on the forums so I'll write a full guide here for everyone. If someone wants to translate this to other languages then that's even better

To start off we need a Race Replay to save, first enter the replay that you want to save, for me this is my latest GP 1986 race. The next part depends very much upon the browser you are using.

In Firefox & Safari, right click when viewing a replay and select 'save page as', Select from the drop down html only/web page only. If using Internet Explorer or Opera, then File -> Save as (Page -> Save As for IE7). Save this file somewhere on your computer.

Browser HTML Saving

Go to http://www.simontrendell.co.uk/batracer/index.php using the browse button select the file you have just saved. Then select whether or not to remove team mates highlighting. The file name field can be left blank, this can be useful if you want to save the file on your own webspace as it will mean you don't have to rename it later.

NOTE: Please be patient when uploading replays, file sizes for LMES especially are large (often in excess of 1MB. Uploading is usually much slower than downloading and the script to export these replays can be slow at times

Once this process has completed you will be presented with a link, right click this link and choose save as or save file as. If you want to show this to someone quickly and not keep it anywhere, giving them this link is fine. However links will expire after 30 minutes and files deleted.

v2.0 of the exporter gives you the oppertunity to save the replay with a permanent link. To do this scroll down more till you get the category drop down link. Select the appropriate category and press the save button. You will then be given a link again, this time it is permanent.

When viewing this link, you will find another link at the bottom of the page that gives you or anyone viewing it the chance to download it. This will not delete it from the server, but gives you the chance to save a copy somewhere else if you missed it first time around.

Qualifying Results & Season Standings Pages

Follow the same process as above, however you will need to click the Qualifying Results Exporter link at the top of the page before continuing. Seasons standings pages can be put through the qualifying results exporter.

Other Pages

Many other pages may be suitable to put through the qualifying results exporter, such as practice times or team standings.

Using Copy & Paste

v2.0 has legacy support for the original Copy & Paste method. You will need to click the link (Click Here For Copy & Paste) which will hide the file upload & reveal a text area where you can paste code. File upload is usually much quicker as large amounts of text on the clipboard can be painful.
