Teamwork

What follows is not a set of rules, nor has it power of law. These are just some basic tips on what you have reasonable grounds to expect from your teammate and what is expected from you in return. It has been numbered to make an easier read but numbering is random, so there is no particular order and no particular importance assigned to numbers (e.i. #1 is not more important than #6 or vice versa, all being in fact of equal importance)

So let us get started:

1. Share data (testing)

1.1 Even if you both have KT and can see the testing. For one, the main page one goes to when opening given game is Your Office, whence last message of Team Talk can be seen - if the testing has been done, one look at that will tell your mate whether to go on and check your findings or no thus saving his time

1.2 Posted data may be useful for possible weather changes as a reference point of last known good setup for given weather

2. Test as soon as you may; even if it is your mate who has a testing trait, don't wait for him to do the testing

2.1 Reason one - it may be so that your testing mate has a limited time to go online, or you live in different parts of the world and time difference is an issue, so test whenever you get a chance to, don't put it off - what if your mate can't get online later when you feel like testing? It may be quite frustrating to see comments in the race replay your mate put, indicating he was there, but than find no data to start the testing with left to you.

2.2 Reason two - testing trait is slower than racing one, so tester is at double disadvantage when he's always first to test - he's slower by default and in addition he is the one of the two to always have worn tyres for the race. Give him a chance to save green set once in a while

3. Share data (Strategies)

3.1 No point in being too secretive, it may give rise to hard feelings and it will not help your teams hopes. Still more if you are more experienced of the two. When in doubt, provoke discussion and don't be a 'know-it-all' and don't assume 'teaching tone' (be you more experienced or a noob) - be polite

4. Share data (driving style).

4.1 You won't be asked for your exact settings, I assure you, but general tips are usually welcome. Besides, you may find that it is you who is erring in the process - it goes both ways

5. Team Cooperation Box

5.1 Even if your are in a clash for title, don't turn it off without permit from the other party. Don't just inform you are going to turn it off - ask if it is an option acceptable by your mate and if he's unwilling to battle you don't push the issue

6. AWOLing (i.e. going 'away without official leave')

6.1 The life has its demands and this is only a game, but don't be impolite - try to inform your mate in good time that you'll be missing for a given term. Try to find an account sitter (your very mate may be a most natural choice) before you go. If you fail to do so, try to do all your testing before you go.

7. Do not give up

Do not give up. Continue playing even if you get some bad results. Not logging into one particular game whilst playing all others is even worse than just simply leaving all games alone - for in latter case, your mates would hope to get you replaced after given term (4 days currently). But if you chose the former, your unfortunate mate gets stuck alone, with no hope of decent replacement till the end of the season (clause 7 courtesy of Lincoln Braun, extended by yours truly)

8 Be considerate

8.1 If you have reasons to believe that at particular training session (say, warmup) the testing isn't needed - setup being reasonably good, forecast weather change will place your setup back to what was already reasonably good setup and so forth, and so you don't intend to run testing, by all means inform your mate about your intention and state your reasons - that A) will save them trouble checking up hourly for your runs, when actually, none are coming! B) you may be, after all, mistaken :)

8.2 There are obligations that matter more (o horror, I'm saying that!) than BATracing, and that is understood. Yet! You may be away for a day or even less, for genuine reasons (school, sick granny, whatever), but unless you warned your mate about your absence, don't be surprised at their displeasure. You can't expect them to guess you always have Oyster Lovers Society meetings on Fridays unless you tell them. Therefore - to save them time and effort of checking whether you tested or not, warn them if you are going to take a leave for a brief spell
